New discoveries about vitamin D!

D-drops – a natural solution for vitamin D deficiency

In a study conducted in the summer of 2011 on a group of blood donors between 20 and 60 years of age and active seniors who regularly participate in sports activities, the results showed that 63% of people over 43 years of age were vitamin D deficient, while this percentage in younger adults was 41%. These results are shocking because the research was conducted during the summer, on people who are healthy and/or regularly exercise. With this example, we can easily imagine what the results would be for less active people or people with health problems. Therefore, vitamin D supplementation is necessary even in spring and summer.

Can we synthesize enough vitamin D ourselves?

The first thing when you think about vitamin D is that it is essential for infants and the elderly for bone structure and health. However, research in recent years indicates that vitamin D plays a much more complex and important role in the body than previously thought. Today we also know that despite the fact that our body can synthesize vitamin D only with the help of UVB rays, the lack of vitamin D has become a common problem. And all this because of the climate and our way of life, people who live in the northern hemisphere are simply not exposed to sunlight enough to synthesize sufficient amounts of vitamin D. There is not much sun in winter, in summer we have to avoid it and at the same time, people today spend less time outdoors than they did 100 years ago. For example, sunscreens with SPF 8 or higher can reduce vitamin D production by more than 90%.

Vitamin D synthesis is often weakened by long-term use of various drugs (anti-inflammatory steroid drugs, cholesterol-lowering drugs). As we age, the ability to synthesize vitamin D decreases, and we only consume a small part of our daily requirement when we eat.

The importance of vitamin D

Several medical organizations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at Harvard University, support the idea of increasing the recommended daily intake of vitamin D by at least 30-60%. Based on a large study population and a review of data obtained over the last few years, we can conclude that vitamin D is essential for everyone. It not only participates in building and maintaining healthy bones and teeth, but also helps reduce the risk of several types of cancer (colon, breast), has a protective effect in both types of diabetes and may have a beneficial effect on a woman's hormonal health and fertility. This is very important during pregnancy and breastfeeding and may protect against further development of neurological disorders and psychiatric disorders (such as schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, dementia, Parkinson's disease, autism, Alzheimer's disease, depression, postpartum depression)

In short, taking vitamin D can go a long way towards staying healthy. Contrary to popular belief, vitamin D overdose is very difficult because it only occurs when you take very high doses (10,000 IU) continuously (for months). Although the need for vitamin D varies with age and health, its deficiency increases the risk of disease in all cases. In children, it is of great importance for bone structure, proper functioning of muscles, and in later life, adequate vitamin D intake may reduce the risk of cardiovascular, autoimmune diseases and inflammation. Later in life, it prevents bone loss and preserves muscle strength and mental freshness, and during pregnancy – when vitamin D deficiency is very common – it supports the health of the mother and fetus, and later may influence the development and health of the child. In case of deficiency, the risk of heart attack increases by 2.5 times, and blood pressure also increases. Obese people have a higher need for vitamin D than average, but adequate vitamin D intake also has a positive effect on insulin resistance.

D drops – new product!

We present a new product – D drops vitamin D in drops. D-drops are simple and easy to dose and have a pleasant, naturally citrus flavor. At the same time, D-drops do not have a very intense taste and can be mixed with food and drinks. No artificial flavors and colors, nor sugar or sweeteners are used in production.

Our new product contains vitamin D3 – cholecalciferol, the most active form of vitamin D, which increases the level of vitamin D in the blood much better compared to the D2 form (ergocalciferol). Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 400 IU

Did you know?

There is a relationship between vitamin D levels and depression – The incidence of depression increases significantly in winter

Tanning in a solarium does not contribute to the synthesis of vitamin D – tanning beds emit UVA rays, from which our body cannot synthesize vitamin D, only from UVB.
